TEESSIDE Hospice Care Foundation was established in 1982 to enhance the lives of those suffering from life limiting illnesses, free of charge.

The Hospice, which is based in Linthorpe, Middlesbrough cares for more than 3,000 individuals each year.

Most people are surprised to learn that Teesside Hospice has annual running costs of more than £1.9m.

With around one third of this being provided by the local Primary Care Trusts, this leaves around £3,500 needed to be raised each day of the year from the Hospice's own resources.

The services offered by Teesside Hospice include a ten-bed Inpatient Unit, 16-guest per day Edward and Glenis Guy Day Care Centre based at Teesside Hospice Care Foundation and a day care centre each Friday within East Cleveland Hospital, Bereavement Counselling service, children's 'Forget Me Not' bereavement counselling service and offer home and hospital visits, outpatient clinics and lymphoedema clinics.

Teesside Hospice also works in partnership with Macmillan and other specialist nurses.

Teesside Hospice has 10 shops in Teesside plus a new eBay online charity shop. The Hospice also runs a free collection and delivery service of items such as second hand furniture, clothing, household items, books, records, bric-a-brac and collectables.
