AN ENGLAND side including Boro central defender Seb Hines narrowly lost to hosts Portugal in their second game of the Algarve Tournament

A single Daniel Candeias strike 20 minutes from time was all that separated the sides in an entertaining and even match.

The other match in the tournament saw France, who lost 3-1 to England, bounce back with a 5-1 win over the Norwegians.

Hines, 16, who played in the FA Youth Cup win over Sunderland last week, headed home the opening goal in the France game as John Peacock's side began the four-team U17 tournament in style.

Blackburn's Joe Garner and Southampton Theo Walcott completed England's scoring and Hines was one of three players retained in the starting line-up for the second game.

England now have to gear themselves up for the final match of this tournament, against Norway on Saturday.
