Shawky Into Semis
SHAWKY played the full 90 minutes as Egypt marched into the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations last night.
The Pharaohs beat Angola 2-1 in Ghana to secure their place in the next round, where they'll face Didier Drogba and the Ivory Coast.
Shawky has so far every played minute of his country's campaign as they seek to defend the title they won as hosts last year.
He hasn't yet managed to find the back of the net in the competition but he came close last night, a 30-yard drive in the opening ten minutes testing the reflexes of Angola keeper Lama.
Shawky now was 38 caps and will be hoping to make it 40 by taking his team all the way to the final in Accra on Sunday.
Egypt's semi- final is on Thursday night and if they can get past the Ivory Coast they'll play the winners of Cameroon v Ghana.
