BORO stretched their unbeaten run to five games as a young side battled to earn a well deserved draw in Sheffield.

Martin Scott included no less than five Under 16s in his starting line up ,with many of the more senior players rested for the FA Youth Cup game against Cardiff City on Wednesday evening.

Jason White had to be content with a place on the bench despite scoring two goals last week after Nathan Bonar was given the nod to partner Gary Martin up front.

But the visitors were indebted to keeper Matthew Atkinson, who pulled off a wonderful save early in the match, spreading himself well when the Wednesday striker was put through clear on goal.

Boro also had chances through James Gray and Kieran Edwards but their best move was almost finished by Martin, who headed just wide from Bonar's cross after good early work from John Johnson.

The second half became a slightly scrappy affair with the wet and windy weather playing a significant part.

Johnny Harris wasted Boro's best chance but the draw was a fair result.

BORO: Atkinson; Furness, Weldon, Edwards (Burton 65), Shead, Johnson, Harris, Gray, Martin (White 60), Bonar, Cronesberry (Robinson 75). Unused sub: Elliott.
