BORO did everything but score in a game that was dominated by Martin Scott's side.
The Academy coach named a strong starting line-up as the home side looked to put an end to three consecutive defeats.
With Nathan Porritt and Jason White returning from illness and injury respectively, Boro went on the attack from the very start.
But despite the forwards threatening throughout the first half it was captain Richard Smallwood who came closest when bundling the ball into the back of the net after a goalmouth scramble.
However the referee adjudged the midfielder to have handled in the process and gave a free-kick, much to the amazement of the Boro bench.
Smallwood was replaced by Jonathan Franks at half time after a knock to the calf. He was joined by Joe Bennett and James Cronesberry as Boro went in search of a winner.
But before the onslaught continued, Jason Steele had to be at his best when saving well.
Franks and Bennett both went agonizingly close yet it was Porritt who had the chance to win the game deep in stoppage time, however the forward could not quite get enough power behind his shot.
