Gibson Eyes Transfer Spectaculars
BORO have set their sights on four major transfer targets including one or two "spectacular" signings who could set the Riverside alight, Steve Gibson revealed today.
Gibson said Gareth Southgate is aiming to bring in players with the pace and creativity the team have lacked in recent seasons - and the chairman will back him all the way.
"I honestly think we have a chance of pulling of one or two spectacular signings which will excite this town and this crowd," Gibson said.
"Gareth is looking to improve the attacking part of the team and is looking for, players with flair, pace, strength and confidence.
"We have four big targets and we hope we can be successful in obtaining them. But the days of a signing taking place in ten minutes or ten days have gone and we have to be patient."

Gibson has in the past shocked the football world by bringing international stars like Juninho, Ravanelli and Emerson to the Riverside.
He refused to put his transfer strategy at risk by naming any of Boro's current targets but he said the club are working away behind the scenes on a number of fronts.
And he said he remains fiercely ambitious and determined to bring European football back to Teesside.
"I want to get that through to the crowd and to the town," he said.
"Outside the top four we've appeared in more cup finals than any other team and we're now looking forward to our tenth year in the Premiership and I think there are only seven or eight other clubs who have achieved that.
"We're not sitting back, our ambitions still burn, we've won the Carling Cup, we've been to the UEFA Cup final, we've had FA Cup semi-finals and we've finished in our highest ever position in the Premiership.
"We want to do better than that and that's the task that faces not just us but the town and the crowd. We've had tremendous support but that has to continue and improve and we know we have to win people over.
"We've enjoyed tasting European football, we had some fabulous evenings here and we would like to bring them back."
